Step in to any Koko Black store and you can’t help but feel a sense of magic and elegance. Sensing that their existing (seven year old) website was no longer communicating that feel to their audience, Koko Black approached twenty4 last year to redevelop the site.
Beginning with the Wire frames and Information Architecture, twenty4 assisted Koko Black in developing the overall structure for the website and e-commerce. This was all shipped off to Studio Round who then provided Koko Black and us with a beautiful design, which aimed to capture the same feelings of when you step in to a Koko Black salon.
The Drawing prize marks a big event in Koko Black’s calendar, and one that they are most passionate about. This year, armed with their new website, was the first year the drawing prize featured online voting, and with over 1,500 votes in 4 days – the response has been an overwhelming success.
Another part of the website important to Koko Black was their chocolate picker; a unique section of the site where customers can choose a gift box and then fill that box with their favourite individual hand-made Koko Black chocolates. Trust us, it’s almost as fun picking your own box full of chocolates than eating them. Almost.
Using WordPress as the underlying CMS, Koko Black have a huge amount of control over how the site will look. Handling the e-commerce side of things is Magento.
We took the standard Magento install and tweaked it – adding in colours for order status’, the ability for Koko Black to export their orders straight in to Australia Post e-Parcel and the ability to produce reports down to the smallest of details – including sales by the hour and by customer group segments.
The result, a beautiful, up-datable and usable website that will look great and work even better for years to come.
